The Southern All Star series invaded North Ga. Speedway tonight and put on a awesome show, the 50 lap $3000.00 to win event was won by Ray Cook, the Tarheel tiger!
The night started off with the two heat races in Modified hobby with The Dirt Demon Devin Stuart taking the first heat, and Tim Ford winning the second one, putting the 20 of Stuart and the 43 of Ford on the front row for the feature to come later, next it was the Consi for the S.A.S. Series with local favorite Gary MacPhearson taking the win followed by the 22 of Thomas, and the 15 of Ethan Hunter.
Next it was the Econo Hobby’s and it was a 4 car race since top runner Joe Dockery blew a motor in hot laps, the 17 of Ronnie Sanders walked away with ii followed to the checkered by the J19 of Jeff Jacobs and the 72 of Michael Fletcher. The 7 car of Cole Ballard retiring on lap 3.
The Mod Hobby feature saw a front row of Devin Stuart and Tim Ford take them to the green and Tim set sail with the 20 of Stuart and the 11 of Higgins close behind, Stuart, Higgins and Jacobs put on a great show for 2nd,3rd, and 4th but no one could catch Tim ford’s #43, with 14 laps on the board, the 1 car of Jr. Whitner was coming and coming hard getting around the 20, and the 11, but when he got to the 43 of Ford, he made contact on the restart and was sent to the back for rough driving, giving the lead back to Ford, but at the scales Tim Ford was light, so the win was handed to Devin Stuart, followed by the 11 of Higgins, the 8 of Fortner, and the 99 of Don Farmer.
In the Crates it was the 34 of Chuck Padgett on the pole and the 44 car of Doug Kilgore subbing for Colby who was off training for the USMC rounding out the front row, followed by the A-1 if Kenny Gizzard and the 12 of Darrell Owenby, when the green dropped it was Padgett who jumped out to an early lead and he never looked back. There was some excitement when the A-1 and the 38 of Chip Brindle got together, and Chip was sent to the back for the contact, but he wasn’t happy about it and refused to go to the pits, and was black flagged, the race was stopped, the red light was put out, so the officials got the 38 of Brindle off the track. Padgett never looked back and he walked way with the win followed by the A1 of Kizzar and the 44 of Kilgore. With Bo Stanley coming home 4th.
Then it was time for the Southern All Stars 50 lapper with Ray Cook and Skip Arp on the front row, but at the drop of the green it was all Ray Cook as he lead wire to wire. the top 4 were
53 of Ray Cook
116 pf Randy Weaver and the 31 of Skip arp followed closely by the Ditch Digger Derek Ellis.
