With lots of tracks being closed to to recent weather, North Georgia Speedway was open and RACIN!
And what racing they did! After a tribute to the 9-11-01 with John Parker carrying the flag, the track was awesome fast and the car count was high, with the limited and crate drivers getting in for free it helped bring in the extra cars. But it was a super night of racing with action all over the track.
Hot laps showed the track was going to be fast and lots of side by sife racing in all divisons.
The first set of heats was in Econo and it was wild! There seemed to be a couple drivers who were having problems with handling, causing a few drivers and crews to spend lots of time repairing cars.
With lots of cars from Dixie, some of whom don’t know what class they should run in but it was a good night of racing
The econo hobbys took the track for the first feature, with Timmy Millwood and his “Dixie Speedway Super Bomber” took the win with the real winner Kevin Brown taking second, Donnie Patterson and Dakota Boling rounding out the top 4
Mod Hobby was a run away, with Larry Higgins driving the Mickey Long owed #20 to victory lane with a win in memory of Mickey’s daughter Megan who mickey lost this past week, second was Delbert Haynes and Matt Moon and Mark Bishop ( n the 81 of Micheal Myers due to mechanical issues on the 11 )
Crates say a bunch of different things , like Jeff Smith in the 41 of Allen Green, who has problems and 6th, but at the front it was a new winner with Andy Picklesimer taking the win over the 7 car of Jason Deal the 99 od Derek Ellis and the 99 of Aaron Wheat.
Limited was another barn burner with Shannon Bearden taking the early lead and never lookng back, he was challenged a time or two but no one had anything for Shannon as he drove to the win with the B4 of Brian Jackson hot on his heels, followed by the T6 of Todd hernandez and the 79 of Dewayne Powell.
Stock pony saw the winner Jimmy Plumley take the win at his first time at the track, but was protested and found legal , following Plumley to the line it was Lamar cook, Matt Leonard, and John Land.
Mod Pony was all billy callahan with Adam James taking Second, Caleb Howard 3rd and Bruce Kimber 4th. Natasha Stokes bringing her dad’s # 27 home in 5th.
In Econo Hobby there was some confusion, as to why Millwood could cross the scales at 50 lbs light, with a Super Bomber car (which is what it is called at Dixie, but at NGS its a Mod Hobby) and Still win the race. Still not sure how that worked out but the win went to Millwood.
Next race is Sept. 24, in the last points race of the year stay tuned for points story coming this week.
