Cloer wins in supers return!
Editors Note: Two drivers Randy Walston and Timmy Millwood were injured last night at NGS both drivers are now recovering at home, lets keep them in your prayers and thoughts.
The night kicked off with each of the points champions getting the huge trophy and a chance to thanks fans. The events were overshadowed by the loss of local racing legend, Jr Mathis. Junior loved dirt track racing. He was the owner and operator of Mathis Garage and Machine Shop. Jr had requested that there be no services for him on a Saturday because that would interfere with racing, lots of drivers and crew were touched by the loss, Jeff Smith dedicated his trophy to Jr’s widow, Jean, Delbert Haynes also dedicated his championship to Jr. Jr was a man loved by all who knew him, he will be missed greatly but the local racing family.
Once the racing started a crash in one of the econo heats that took out the car of former NGS promoter Timmy Millwood, sending Timmy to the E.R. It was announced later he had been sent home, expected to make a full recovery.
The features started with the econo’s and Brooger Brooks took LaBron Millers #21 to victory lane followed by Eric Hamby and Defending and reigning Track Champion Glenn Grimsley and Jerry Fowler.
Mod Hobby’s rolled out next and it was clear from the drop of the green that Jr Whitner had them covered and no one had anything for him as Jr took the win followe to the line by Larry Higgins, Robbie Green and Brandon Stansfield.
Crates saw the 17S of Jeff Smith continue his winning ways at NGS taking another win with the 7 of Grayson York 2nd , Doug Kilgore and Allen Green round out the top 4.
The limited feature say Shannon Beaden take the win with a very hard charging Brian Jackson taking second coming from deep in the pack , Points Champ Todd Hernandez , and Dewayne Powell rounding out the top 4.
In Supers it was Gary Macphearson and Preston Graves on the front row with Johnny Cloer Jr. in the Richard Austin A19 sitting on row 2, once the green dropped it was clear Cloer was going to be the man to beat, after a bump or two from Graves and Gary Mac, Johnny Cloer set sail and never looked back taking another win,and the $2000.00 put up by Caylors Industral Sales. Cloer was followed to the line by Johnny Chastain, and Shaun Chastain, with the 99 of New Points champ Derek Ellis in hot pursuit.
Stock Pony say Lamar Cook points runnerup take the win over Jeremy Milsap, new points champ Ralph Langston and Micheal Plumbley,
the Online Recycling Mod Pony feature saw Marty Phillips giving new points champ Billy Callahan all he wanted as the 2 battled boor to door for lap after lap, before Phillips faded handing the win to Callahan, who was followed to the line by Koty Campbell, Caleb Howard and Gage Lawson.
The Track Management has asked me to thank all the fans and drivers who have stepped up and supported NGS this year, stay tuned for more info coming soon.
Also the entire racing family world wide mourns the loss of Indy Car driver Dan Weldon who lost his life in a racing accident in Las Vegas today, prayers going out to his family and friends.
